A bomb went off at Veronica Kabukaga primary School in Kibaale district on Tuesday, killing a primary two pupil and injuring three others.

Dorothy Kusiima was blown to death while playing with the bomb in the school compound. Three of her playmates were critically injured and admitted to Kagadi Hospital.

Security officials in Kibaale said the bomb was abandoned by ADF rebels six years ago.

Kibaale district Police chief Denis Okuja dismissed claims that the bomb explosion was connected to the tribal clashes between the Bakiga and Banyoro.

A pupil, Juliet kyomuhangi, said the bomb went off when Kusiima tried to unscrew a button during lunch time.
