UGANDA Netball Federation (UNF) has appointed former general secretary and netball player Betty Naava as the chairperson of the She Cranes organizing committee in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Africa Cup of Nations Netball championships will this year be held in Windhoek, Namibia in August. She Cranes earned an automatic slot into the prestigious African event after eliminating Kenya and Zanzibar on their way to a 22-14 finals defeat of Tanzania in last year’s East and Central African Netball championships played in Nairobi, Kenya.
“Naava will head the She Cranes planning and organizing committee in their search for funds to enable that team travel to Namibia for the prestigious event,†UNF president Lydia Bukenya said.
Meanwhile, players have so far shunned the netball transfer window which closes next month prior to the league start. The window opened in January.
