Kurji out of Mbarara

NATIONAL champion Ponsiano Lwakataka will hit the road first in the Mbarara rally tomorrow after Riyaz Kurji pulled out of the event.

NATIONAL champion Ponsiano Lwakataka will hit the road first in the Mbarara rally tomorrow after Riyaz Kurji pulled out of the event.

“Parts for the Subaru N-8 that was being worked on arrived late. We definitely can’t make it,” an Alpha Rally Team source revealed yesterday. Kurji who holds a Kenya license was going to participate as a guest driver.

Lwakataka who will partner with new co-driver Justin Mungoma will be chased by championship rival Ronald Sebuguzi in a Mitsubishi Evo4.

The rally that will be flagged off at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara has attracted 17 competitors.

Meanwhile Mogas Uganda yesterday offered Lwakataka an assortment of lubricants ahead of the rally.
Lwakataka’s manager Dusman Okee received the lubricants on behalf his driver who was in Bushenyi route reccing.

“We are grateful to Mogas for consistently supporting us. Mogas has always kept faith with us. Having got reliable lubricants we promise to turn in good results but not reasons or excuses,” Okee said.
