By Vision Reporter Ever since he released Omuzadde, Silver Kyagulanyi has been many things to many people. Some believed that he was just a proud fellow and that is why he never jostled in with crowds at concerts. Others thought that his lyrics were just too moralising to move any party animal. Today, however, that picture is changing fast. Kyagulanyi’s latest album Tebalemererwa has everyone buzzing. And he has evolved into a most highly sought after concert act. Like his previous albums, Tebalemererwa is kindhearted and interesting. But it has the hooks that every party animal seeks! All the six songs pack groovy bass lines into hefty bouts of percussion. Add the finger-picked guitar and the smooth driving vocals and you have a mix that is guaranteed to keep you absorbed from start to finish. The title track is already generating catch phrases and debates everywhere. In Tebalemererwa, Kyagulanyi raises the laughs on women who quit their marital homes. In Nakoowa, he decries people who revel in rumormongering. The reggae tunes here are so catchy and infectious. However, the true charm of Nakoowa lies in the chorus- Kyagulanyi takes it on with tremulous, upbeat, vocals that will give you an upstart, if you are not used to 1980’s band music styles. “I feel as if I have been given another chance, though I have had many chances before,†Kyagulanyi said, when asked how he felt about having steered into the popular consciousness after a years-long lull. Having jumped into fame at 19 years with his debut single Ekyaasa kyabakyaala, Kyagulanyi slid into the shadows when he ventured into gospel music and gave up on stage appearance. Now the singer/songwriter is re-inventing his career. Ends
