Masaka loses two priests

Two priests of the Masaka Catholic Diocese died over the weekend. The Rev. Fr. Caesar Buwule, 77, a chaplain of the Cistercian monks of Butende, died after an operation on Saturday, while Fr. Vincent Mupele Wasswa, 54, died on Sunday at Kabuwoko parish after a long illness. They were buried at Bukalasa on Monday. Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala extended condolences to the bereaved.

Soldiers nab deserters By Kyomuhendo Muhanga UPDF soldiers in Kasese have arrested two army deserters suspected to have been terrorising residents of Kisinga, kyarumba and Kyondo villages. Residents said the deserters were behaving like ADF rebels. “They would abduct and extort money from civilians,” said a resident of Kyondo trading centre.

THE Police in Kiboga have directed former district Movement chairman Edward Katumba to rebuild the pit latrines he destroyed while searching for allegedly stolen ballot papers. District Police commander Charles Biddemu said Katumba, who lost in the LC5 elections to Kizito Siraje Nkugwa, claimed that Nkugwa’s supporters had stolen 10,000 ballot papers and dumped them in a latrine after failing to stuff them in the ballot box.


Another Church falls

HARDLY a week after the Kalerwe-based City of the Lord Church collapsed, another church has collapsed in Nangabo sub-county, Wakiso district. Residents of Luteete zone, where Assy christian Centre is located, said three people escaped unhurt. The church was built using wood, old iron sheets and papyrus mats.
