THE Mbarara Golf Open that tees off this morning offers homeboy George Olayo a chance to stretch his lead on top of the Uganda Golf Union (UGU) stroke-play championship table.

Olayo, a greens keeper at Mbarara Golf Club, should take full advantage of a familiar course to follow up his Western Open victory with a home win.

“Olayo has been busy with the greens and says it will be very difficult to beat him on his course,” Mbarara Golf Club boss Edwin Tumusiime said.

Olayo will come up against four-times Uganda Open champion Stephen ‘Tiger Woods’ Birungi, Gerald Ayella, Herman Mutawe and Shaban Lwanga among others, in the 36-hole stroke-play tournament.

The tournament is the second round of the UGU stroke-play championship.
