NICHOLAS Kiprono last week set a new national half-marathon record, after his exploits in France. Uganda Athletics Federation publicity secretary Namayo Mawerere yesterday confirmed that the long distance star attained the feat after winning the La Grande-Motte half-marathon meet in France.
He clocked one hour, one minute and 31 seconds, slashing off eight seconds from Wilson Busienei’s record, which was set last year in Vitry, Italy.
“It is good that we are having search runners springing up. They are brightening the athletics future,†said Mawerere.
