THE born-again in Luweero have petitioned the Resident district commissioner, Geoffrey Kyomukama, over a newly-established church which claims to resurrect the dead. They said the church was preaching Satanism.
Jesus Salvation Church, one of whose pastors is a nine-year-old boy, also claims to cure AIDS as well as other terminal ailments.
The Church followers, most of whom are Luweero’s unemployed and who have pitched camp at the small church, hold prayers after midnight, and are heard howling and barking while repeatedly shouting, “fire, fire, fireâ€.
The church leader, Pastor Rose Muwanguzi, accused other churches of being envious.
She claimed to have resurrected her son, Vincent Sango alias Kisakyayesu the nine-year-old pastor, from death.
Muwanguzi settled in the area recently from Entebbe.
Other born-again church leaders led by the chairman of the district council for born-again churches, Pastor Mudde, said the claims were false and they asked Kyomukama to close the church.
Mudde also said, “That church is not registered with us. We are sceptical about their way of preaching.â€
Pastor Sam Kalwanyi, a member of the Luweero district born-again churches council, said he doubted Kisakyayesu’s ability to interpret God’s word.
Kisakyayesu claims to be possessed by the Holy Spirit. He also said he preaches using the Bible and that he can read it.
Resident district commissioner Geoffrey Kyomukama yesterday told The New Vision that he wanted to visit the church to establish whether it was a cult and take action.
