GULU district has received the first batch of 5,600 iron sheets from the Government for the Internally Displaced People (IDP) living in camps under the resettlement programme.

The iron sheets were delivered on Monday by Salim Sebyala, an official from the Prime minister’s Office and were received by Gulu deputy resident district commissioner Lt. James Oyo.

Oyo said the iron sheets would be supplied to IDPs who are willing to go back and resettle in their home villages.

“We are yet to go on the ground to make assessment before we distribute the iron sheets to people who will show interest and willingness to voluntarily go back to their homes,” Oyo said.

He warned beneficiaries against selling the iron sheets or using them to build houses in towns or trading centres.

President Museveni pledged the iron sheets during the campaigns.
