Why crowd the hotels in the same locality?
SIR — There are so many hotels being built in Kampala with the sole purpose of hosting the 2007 commonwealth summit guests. All these hotels are being built in the same neighbourhood. Take an example of the hotel being built between Sheraton Hotel and the former Nile Hotel.

We are told another one is to be built where Shimoni Demonstration and Shimoni Teachers College stand. Yet another one is to displace the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation in Nakasero. I wonder what will happen after the summit.
Will there be enough market for all these hotels? What is surprising is that in the midst of all this, the Association of hotel owners is quiet. There is no reason why the hotel which is to displace Shimoni should not be built in Lugogo where the school is supposed to be shifted to.
