THE battle for the Women’s Day golf Open resumes on Saturday, nearly three weeks after the event was washed out by rain.

Action is at Uganda Golf Club (UGC) course, Kitante where heavy rain halted proceedings on March 8.

The event again renews the old fight for honours among the club members including the captain of UGC ladies section Jennifer Opio.

“I hope this time round, we will not have interruptions,” Opio said.

Opio comes up against former national champion Esther Okullo, Jenina Nasimolo, Monica Ntege and Jasper Kamukama.

Tee off is at 7.30am with players drawn in groups of four, and are due to go on course at intervals of ten minutes.

At the sametime, Opio was over the weekend returned unopposed for a second one-year term as UGC lady captain.

The vice captain Cecilia Lwanga, secretary Mary Oceng and treasurer Wanjiku Matiru also returned unchallenged.
