Norbert Mao to release Kony video

OUTgoing Gulu Municipality MP and chairman-elect Gulu district, Norbert Mao, has said he will soon release tapes that LRA rebel leader Joseph Kony gave him recently.

Mao said the tapes, one video and another audio, tell the story of the northern war and the talks between Betty Bigombe and Joseph Kony.

Speaking at the launch of the Mass Communication Department book, Media in situations of Conflict, Roles, Challenges and Responsibility at Makerere Guest House on Friday, Mao said, “Kony called me three times before he gave me the tapes. When you look at the tape you wonder whether people who make decisions understand the whole situation.”

He added, “I will give you (Mass communications Department) the tapes to keep in your archive.”

Mao said Kony wanted to end the war but only after meeting all Acholi leaders.
“He said he was bitter with the Acholi for luring him into war and later aba-doning him,” said Mao.
