THE five-year dominance of Our Lady of Good Counsel (OLGC), Gayaza, in the schools’ badminton category was brought to a sudden end at the Taibah Schools Open over the weekend at Lugogo.
Despite their top seed Gloria Najuka beating Mariam High’s top seed Sheila Kalijja in straight sets, the absence of Rose Nakalya, who completed her ‘A’ Levels at the school, left a big gap as other stars lost in the three-day event.
Phiona Ssembogo and Sarah Nakayiza lost to Mariam High’s Leticia Nalwada and Shamim Bangi to deny them a title defence. Mariam High also lifted the U-15 girl’s trophy.
