Health ministry probes Khomein HIV herbal medicine

The Ministry of Health has finished analysing the “Khomein†herbal concoction and the Evaluation Committee is meeting today to agree on the format of the presentation, said Dr. Amandwa Jacinto, the commissioner of Clinical Services, Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health has finished analysing the “Khomein†herbal concoction and the Evaluation Committee is meeting today to agree on the format of the presentation, said Dr. Amandwa Jacinto, the commissioner of Clinical Services, Ministry of Health. Khomein is a herbal medicine for HIV/AIDS, currently administered by Iranian professor Elahi Allahgholi to patients at sh3m at the Institute of Elahi international Initiative for Development and Education (IEIIDE), at Plot 113, Katalina Road, Naguru. He claims the medicine cures AIDS and TB.
The ministry sponsored 50 patients for comprehensive pre-treatment tests at the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) to establish whether they are benefiting from the medicine. The patients underwent tests including complete physical examinations, HIV status, CD4 counts, viral load, renal and liver function and opportunistic infections at the JCRC, and the ministry was footing all the bills.
“We have finished our work. We have the results, but Dr. Zaramba, the Director General is out of the country. He has to announce the results. We want to give you the right information. Be patient,†said Dr. Amandwa last Tuesday as he pointed at the file containing the results in his office.
When probed more about the results, Amandwa said they could be promising. “I think it (results) is going to be a good solution, but it will depend on Dr. Zaramba,†he said.
