COURT will today decide whether to release Australian cardiologist Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi (left) now on remand in Luzira Prison over the murder of his wife, Robinah Kiyingi, a city advocate.

If released, Kiyingi will remain within Uganda owing to the cancellation of his Australian’s passport by the department of foreign affairs and trade of Australia.

The passport is one of the documents in support of the bail application before Justice Opio Aweri of the High Court.

A letter seen by The New Vision reads, “The minister for Foreign Affairs has also directed that a travel document not be issued to you while you are prevented from travelling internationally by force of law of foreign country.”

Kiyingi applied for bail on grounds of constitutional rights.

He also cited other grounds of sickness for which there is no proper treatment in Luzira.
However, the state asked court to dismiss Kiyingi’s bail application and instead order court to list the case for trial.
