Have you ever heard of Non Uniform Day? Do you know what it is? Well, Buganda Road Primary School held its Non Uniform Day on Tuesday, April, 4, 2006. All children were supposed to attend classes in clothes that depict the dress code of different tribes in the country. On that same day children also contributed funds towards the well being of the school in terms of donation.
Mr. Okech Patrick, a P6 teacher, said the day was chosen to help pupils grow up knowing the essence of cultural dressing and norms. He said that children were also encouraged to fundraise for the school by donating any amount of money they could afford on that day.
Children’s Vision also asked the pupils if they like the Non Uniform Day better than other days and why? One child said he prefers Non Uniform Day because you can escape easily without being noticed by the teachers yet in uniform you can be identified. Other children had this to say:
