HAMPTON School in London has donated 80 Pentium connected computer sets worth sh80m to Kiira College, Butiki in Jinja district.
The donation was received by the school’s headmaster, Daudi Mulongo, at a function held at the school recently.
Mulongo said the donation came as a result of the twinning relationship between Kiira College, Butiki and Hampton School.
He added that it was one of Hampton’s efforts to uplift education standards in Kiira College, Butiki. “All students in Jinja District are going to become computer literate,” he said.
“Our aim is to equip our students with computer skills because the world is becoming a world of technology.”
“Hampton school also gave us the LCD projector, two double stored computer laboratories and a new hi-tech laboratory worth sh900m,” Mulongo said.
He said Hampton school has also constructed a modern hall at the school. Mulongo commended Uganda Revenue Authority for exempting them from paying taxes on the donations.
