‘Reverend’ Nsibambi
Namirembe Bishop Balagadde Ssekade on Easter Sunday erroneously referred to the premier, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi as a ‘reverend’ earning himself inquisitive looks from the believers.
Perhaps they were wondering when the title had been bestowed on the premier. It was after the bishop begged the congregation’s pardon that they were contented. Nonetheless, Ssekadde later said, “I pray that you become a reverend. You are our son. You have been supportive all the time.”
The premier did not say a word, perhaps he is considering the bishop’s proposal!

Darkness at noon
Umeme’s loadshedding schedule does not know whether people are praying or not, whether it is a big day or not. In the middle of prayers at exactly 12:30pm on Easter Sunday there was loadshedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe.
All lights and the public address system momentarily went off.
This, however, did not stop the convening Bishop Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde from praying.
He continued and prayed for the sick and bereaved for about three minutes before the power came back. Umeme should do better next time!

Binaisa still surfing
Did you know that former president Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa was still searching? Well, the premier Prof. Apolo Nsibambi confirmed on Easter Sunday that the former president of Uganda, Godfrey Binaisa QC was still searching. Nsibambi, who was introducing officials who attended the Namirembe Easter service, had wanted to introduce Binaisa and his wife only to realise that the former president had not come with one. “I was about to say Binaisa and wife but I remembered that he did not have one. Anyway, he (Binaisa) told us that he is still searching,” Nsibambi said, attracting laughter from believers.

Where power lies
Makerere University guild president-elect Gerald Karuhanga has perhaps now realised where power lies.
After court blocked his swearing in, Karuhanga, who beat 12 others on the FDC ticket, has now petitioned the NRM big guns after enormous petitions against his victory. He claims one John Jet Tumwebaze is being used by State House to block his victory. Tumwebaze was the runner-up in the hotly contested and chaotic 2005/6 guild elections. Karuhanga has written to defence minister Amama Mbabazi, internal affairs minister Ruhakana Rugunda Maj. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and even to the first lady Janet Museveni pleading for their intervention.
