FOR Christ the King Church Choir, the Easter Carol presentation on Palm Sunday was a lot more than singing. During their Easter Carol presentation, the choir raised sh1m for charity, and precisely Sanyu Babies’ Home in Nsambya.
The choir’s decision to dedicate the concert to the babies home, was in response to the Archdiocesan theme of the year, which encourages Christians to extend charity to the needy.
The over 40-member choir entertained guests with John Stainer’s The Crucifixion, an amalgamation of musical pieces, in the first part. The fact that the choir was accompanied by a female organist, Femke Bannink Mbazzi called for attention. This rare presence aroused curiosity in the audience. However, Bannink did a commendable job.
The choristers also performed classical works from Frederik Handel’s Messiah and traditional pieces. The performance was entertaining and free for all.
Nsambya Babies Home administrator, Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi, attended the concert in the company of 15 children under her care.
Former chief Justice Emeritus Wake Wambuzi, Kampala Archdiocese Chancellor Emmanuel Kimbowa and the Vicar-General Msgr. Paul Ssemwogerere attended the concert among others.
