THE Government is renovating the tombs of heroes at Kololo airfield, state minister for the presidency Beatrice Wabudeya said yesterday, reports Paul Kiwuuwa.
“The Government has done the renovations but I have no idea how much it will cost, neither do I know who has been contracted to do the work,†Wabudeya said on phone.
Former president Prof. Yusuf Kironde Lule died in January 1985 and was buried at Kololo in 1987.
The founder of the first Nationalist Political Party, Ignatius Musaazi, who died in October 1990, was also buried there.
Workmen of Uganda funeral services on saturday enclosed the graves with iron sheets and are working inside the boundary.
The site engineer, Robert Ouma, said, “We are to replace the current top part of terrazzo, which has worn out with marble or granite and we are supposed to finish work within 10 days.†Moses Okirodde, the site foreman, said they are to plant flowers around the tombs to give it a magnificent look.
