IRANIAN herbalist, Prof. Sheik Allagholi Elahi, was yesterday charged with four offences arising out of the manufacture and sale of his drug that he purports to cure HIV/AIDS.

Buganda Road Court Chief magistrates’ court charged Elahi with manufacturing or preparing a drug not on the National Drug Formulary and supply of a restricted drug from premises without authority from the National Drug Authority (NDA).

Smartly dressed in a white shirt and blue suit, Elahi took to the dock at 3:15pm after a long interrogation at CID headquarters on Wednesday and yesterday morning.

He denied all the charges before magistrate Stella Amabilisi.
Elahi was granted a cash bail of sh600,000 after presenting two sureties. Court ordered Police to deposit his passport to ensure he does not flee the country.
