KAMPALA — The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled the election for the female youth representatives to parliament for May 3 and 4. The National Youth Council (NYC) Conference will convene at the Colline Hotel, Mukono on May 2, a statement from the EC said. Members of the NYC include the National Youth Executive Committee chairpersons of district youth councils and secretaries for female youth at the districts.

Voters riot
LUWEERO — Voters went on rampage after boycotting elections and threatened to smash ballot boxes during the Thursday elections for youths councillors, demanding sh10,000 each before casting their votes. Armed police were deployed to secure the district Electoral Commission staff, after the irate voters who had travelled on pick-ups, threatened to beat them up, accusing them of having ‘eaten’ money they expected to get as transport refund.

LC3 polls
KAMPALA — The Electoral Commission (EC) has said sub-county chairpersons, directly-elected councillors and women councillors will be elected on Tuesday, in areas where the polls were not conducted. Ec chairman Dr. Badru Kiggundu said campaign meetings will end tomorrow, a statement dated April 21 said.

MITYANA — Democratic Party (DP) and National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters on Tuesday afternoon clashed during elections for LC3 youth councillors at Saza offices. The fight resulted from each party accusing the other of bringing illegal voters who were not on the register.

Man wins
NEBBI — A presenter working with Paidha FM on Thursday won the district male youth councillor seat with 95 votes. Joshua Anywarach, an NRM candidate, beat his rival, Peterson Ocircan by 92 votes in the election at Boma Ground. Anywarach said he would work to increase the district youth budget. Jacqueline Kumakech was elected unopposed as the district female councillor on an NRM ticket.
