I don’t know what happened to me; I got so nervous and was actually shaking, my hands and nose were sweating! Tom even noticed and told me to relax. I think I relaxed after more than an hour. Tom made it easy for me. He pulled out a chair for me, got me a glass of juice, served me food and even carried it for me. He did most of the talking. I am a good listener and I asked him a few questions. He volunteered most of the info about himself. He was sympathetic and offered advice about my past heartbreak – which was very hurting. It was not new advice, but I found myself resolving to move on. He is very intelligent, courteous (never allowed me to carry my plate), very optimistic about life and really caring. He is also funny, I laughed till my cheeks hurt. He prayed for the food before we ate and also told me how involved he is in his family affairs — very responsible.
Would you be his girlfriend? I would not mind because he is caring, lovable, groomed, dependable and I loved his light beard. Both of us love going out and the colour purple. Did you ask if he had a girlfriend? It is not my nature to ask about such things because I will find out anyway. That comes after the guy has fallen for the girl. If he has one, no hard feelings. I would remain a friend because I cannot share him. I do not double-deal and have never done so – I cannot pretend and I never told him a single lie.
Why don’t you ask him for love? I have never asked a man for love. But I believe I can. I first want to see if he has feelings for me too – it is too early to know whether his gestures were courtesy or love.

Marcy came 10 minutes late. That made me nervous. This was my first blind date. I was frightened. But when Marcy came in, I was relieved and happy she was not fat or dark-skinned – dark skinned people are very strict! I rose to welcome her and pulled a chair for her. She was smart and gorgeous! I immediately fell in love with her dimples – and I had enough supply of them because she smiled most of the time. Marcy is a sweet person, she constantly appreciated that I was smart and said thanks to everything I did for her. She was friendlier than most people I have met within a short time. But if I was nervous, she was worse, especially when the cameraman came. I had to tell her to take it easy. The good thing is we hit a conversation straight and relaxed. When we walked around, she was graciously in control. We talked about almost everything. She is bright. She actually has her life, ambition and goals figured out. I found myself easily confiding in her. She loved my jokes and is a very good listener. When I returned home, it took me two hours before sleeping, reviewing the events of the evening.
Any plans? I would want our next meeting to be worthwhile, for instance at home where I can cook for her or a cool place. I want her to meet my friends. I need time to plan it because I want her to be my special friend.
You mean girlfriend? Not really. Actually, I must confess I am not a lonely heart. I have a running affair I cherish. My girlfriend even allowed me to come for the date — we trust each other. I wouldn’t have hesitated to take her on if I was not contented. But I really want her as a special friend.
If she flashed her dimples and said: “Tom, I want you! My goodness, don’t say that! I can’t say ‘No’ because it may spoil our relationship. But saying ‘Yes’ would be cheating. My affair cannot stop us from becoming the best of friends. Ends
