Each winner had used airtime worth sh32,000 and above.

Five generators, a microwave oven, a boda-boda motorcycle and 10 phones, were also taken.

Ten people who used airtime worth sh16,000, won rechargeable torches, four won radio systems, while 10 grabbed 14-inch colour TV sets.

Five of the customers who used airtime worth sh8,000 won bicycles, 10 walked away with 10 iron sheets each, while 10 received a mattress each.

The rest of the winners got T-shirts and caps.

To participate in the promotion, customers are required to buy airtime and talk.

But to participate in the second edition, customers will be required to choose the prize they wish to win.

“To enter this draw, the customer only has to send an SMS to 414 with a keyword for the prize they wish to win,” Fred Kigozi, the uganda telecom brand manager, said.

In the grand draw, customers have a choice of five grand prizes including a Haj trip to Mecca, a trip for two to the land of the Bible or an LG home theatre.
