JUSTICE Edmond Sempa Lugayizi of Mukono high court has sentenced a 42-year-old man to 13 years in Luzira Prison for defilement.
Ronald Kibirige of Wanjeyo village, Mukono, defiled a nine-year-old girl on December 22, 2004.
Kibirige pleaded guilty.
Bahai visit

Bahai volunteers are in Uganda for a three-month working visit to help Bahai communities to start development projects.
The volunteers, who work under ‘Face in the East,’ a music NGO, came from Canada although they hail from different countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Arab world.
Family raps

RELATIVES of the late Luweero movement chairman, Dan Mwebaza, who died in a motor accident last year, have complained that the party top brass have not fulfilled their pledge to assist the family.
During Mwebaza’s last funeral rites on Sunday, Mwebaza’s brother, the Rev. Fred Kigozi of Katikamu, said the movement had alienated the family.
Disease threat

AN outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease has been reported in Kiboga district, causing panic among cattle keepers, the veterinary officer Dr. Tom Kamulasi told journalists on Thursday.
He said a quarantine has been imposed on livestock markets.
