ANKOLE Crown Prince John Barigye has said he is unhappy with groups and leaders campaigning against the revival of the Ankole cultural institution.

Barigye, who is also the Patron of Ankole cultural trust, said the campaigners were bad elements who want to condemn Ankole to bad ethics and immorality.

He urged a Saturday meeting of over 500 cultural leaders to support the process of bringing back the cultural leadership if they want to build a morally upright society.

Barigye told the leaders that President Yoweri Museveni promised to revive Ankole Kingdom if cultural leaders convinced their people to love their culture.

In a brief speech during the meeting held at his home in Kariro-Kashari county, Barigye said, “We need to have cultural leaders who can teach our people morals and ethics.

“For instance, land disputes are on the increase due to lack of such leaders who used to help when Ankole cultural institutions were still in existence.’’
He appealed to the cultural leaders to start a campaign of teaching Ankole culture in schools and other institutions so that children can grow up loving their culture.
