A woman and two men were yesterday charged with treason and remanded in Luzira Prison.
Prosecution alleges that the suspects, in various places of Bugiri, Busia, Bundibugyo, Mbarara, Ntungamo and Kasese, plotted to overthrow the Government of Uganda by providing intelligence information to the Allied Democratic Front rebels (ADF).

Azia Turigye of Kevina zone, Makindye division, Hassan Isingoma, of Kasese district and Bashir Mustafa of Kijunga in Mbarara district were charged at the Buganda Road Court.

Magistrate Stella Amabilis did not allow them to enter plea, saying, her court lacked jurisdiction to try the case.

The three and four other suspects who were charged earlier, allegedly plotted to overthrow the Government of Uganda by force of arms. They were told to apply for bail in the High Court.

The other suspects are, Wahabu Zisanga, Abdul Wabwire, Ayub Lukman, Zubedah Biira and Saad Ihanga.

State prosecutor Patricia Cingtho reported that the suspects allegedly extended financial support and other logistical support to the ADF between January 2004 and April 2006.
