INFOCOM clients will have greater speeds when using Internet following the launch of the new high-speed wireless data network based on WiMAX technology.

WiMAX technology is the latest in highest performance broadband fixed wireless data communication, which makes it ideal for highly-reliable and demanding Internet services, audio and video streaming, video conferencing and data disaster recovery links for the banking industry.

Hans Haerdtle, the general manager, said the wireless technology goes beyond the performance capability of wire technology currently in use.

“The advantage with wireless technology is the flexibility and speeds you get of up to 10MB per second. The maximum data capacity of this new technology is surpassing anything in this country in terms of possible end-user connection speed,” Haerdtle said.

The service is operated in a licensed frequency band from Uganda Communications Commission.
