MPs approve all cabinet nominees

PARLIAMENT’S appointments has approved all the 69 presidential nominees for ministerial appointment, including former First Deputy Prime Minister, Eriya Kategaya and the President’s brother, Caleb Akandwanaho.

PARLIAMENT’S appointments has approved all the 69 presidential nominees for ministerial appointment, including former First Deputy Prime Minister, Eriya Kategaya and the President’s brother, Caleb Akandwanaho.
Richard Nduhuura, who was interviewed yesterday, left hospital where he was on drip to appear before the committee. He had a needle still stuck in the back of his palm.
Sources said the committee questioned Kabakumba Matsiko, about her first name. Kabakumba was asked to explain why she had come for vetting when her first name was not Jane as had appeared on the nominees’ list signed by the President. “We had a similar case with Salim Saleh (Akandwanaho),†sources said.
Kabakumba explained that she was Margaret and not Jane as had been indicated. She said the fault was not hers. “People call me Winnie, Jane. I’m not Winnie or Jane,†she said after the interview. The committee, however, approved her nomination.
Meanwhile, Milton Olupot reports that the newly-appointed ministers will be sworn-in on Friday. The Media Centre director, Robert Kabushenga, said the Head of the Civil Service, John Mitala, would announce the time and evenue in the Parliamentary building where the function is to take place.
