SIR — It is interesting that most Ugandans seem to interpret Mr Eriya Kategaya’s political behaviour in terms of ‘bread and butter’. Few people see anything wrong because it seems politics is only about ‘eating’. Kategaya’s difference with his friend Yoweri Museveni was never personal but national. He took a positive stand on the constitution which is the supreme law of the land. For him to turn around and tell us that he will support any position as long as it has been approved by Parliament is very disappointing. Why serve in a government whose position you don’t agree with? Now, Kategaya is seen as an opportunist. Granted, Parliament okayed the third term which others call ‘sad term’ but has Kategaya forgotten under what circumstances? Uganda needs a new breed of leaders! When some people express surprise about kategaya’s u-turn it is common to hear others commenting that those who are surprised ‘don’t know politics’! So does politics mean being a chameleon?
