THE deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG), Raphael Baku, has scoffed at the remarks made by the former minister of lands, Kahinda Otafiire and former MP Ken Lukyamuzi against the IGG, reports Chris Ocowun.
Responding to the IGG’s report which accused him of messing up the tendering process for the computerisation of the lands registry and owning a plot in nakivubo wetlands, Otafiire said the IGG wrote the report after having “one too manyâ€.
Baku said Lukyamuzi tried to appeal to the president and the international community about the IGG’s actions, which are only questioned by the High Court.
While opening a two-day workshop for leaders from Lango and Acholi at hotel Sunset in Gulu on Thursday, Baku said, “If Gen. Otafiire thinks I made a mistake because I signed the report against him, then he should have written back to me.â€
He said Lukyamuzi should have gone to the high court, instead of appealing to people who could not help him.
“The action of the IGG is as good as a judgement of a High Court. There is nobody you can appeal to except the high court,†Baku said.
The IGG barred Lukyamuzi from contesting for re-election for failing to declare his wealth.
