MAKERERE University Faculty of Computing and Information Technology has won another award for excellence, for the third year running.

The Business Initiative Directions (BID), a Madrid-based company, recognised the faculty for its achievements in quality, client satisfaction, leadership, innovation, prestige and excellence.

Handing over the International Diamond Star for Quality Award (left) in Paris (France) recently, BID chief, Jose E. Prieto hailed the faculty saying it had successfully demonstrated a commitment to the culture of quality and spearheaded the integration of ICT services and systems in organisational functions in Uganda.

A beaming faculty dean, Dr. Venancius Barya, said the award was a great achievement because they had now got worldwide recognition.

“It means the international community has confidence in our programmes and graduates,” Barya said.

“This year we sent 15 students to some of the leading universities in the world. This indicates our graduates are of high quality,” he added.

Barya said Radboud University of the Netherlands is also sending 20 students for a course at the faculty.
