By Chris Kiwawulo MAKERERE University has started offering Information communication technology (ICT) training in Luganda, the head of the language education department, school of education has said.
Dr. Fred Masagazi said, “We started computer-assisted teaching in Luganda two years ago. We are training people who will teach others ICT in Luganda.†He said the university would soon start awarding degrees in the course.
Masagazi, the first person to get a PhD in Luganda, said they had embarked on changing all computer programmes into Luganda.
This was at the annual Luganda Teachers association conference at the university recently. Over 300 secondary, tertiary and university teachers attended.
Mengo education minister Emmanuel ssendawula said they gave Luganda book writers an office to promote the language. Ends
