WORLD 3000m steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru has resumed light training in the Italian city of Turin after suffering an injury in the 45th Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic last month.

Inzikuru failed to finish the race due to a hamstring injury. She had to be carried off the track in agony in the race won by Russian Petrova Tatyana.

Inzikuru’s country manager Flavio Pasqualato yesterday said that the Arua Gazelle had started light training in Turin in partnership with Wilson Busienei as her hamstring is being monitored along with the allergy she suffered from while still in the high altitude training camp in Iten, Kenya.

“She has started light training as the medical personnel monitor her. I am optimistic she will have picked her form by next month,” explained Pasqualato, adding that the situation was not as appaling as it was first thought to be.

Inzikuru (left) is expected to take part in a number of races before she travels to Mauritius for the Africa Senior Athletics Championships due in August.
