THE government has launched a website on orphans and other vulnerable children in Uganda.

Syda Bbumba, the gender and social development minister, said www.mglsd.go.ug/ovc would provide up-to-date information on orphans and vulnerable children.

“People will be able to learn about the violence orphans and vulnerable children suffer,” she said.

She said children suffer abuses ranging from child labour with little or no pay, to rape, defilement, forced marriages and sacrifice.

Bbumba was launching the website at the commemoration of the 15th Day of The African Child at Bukeerere Primary School in Mukono district on Friday.

The day, gazetted by the African Union, is an annual event in remembrance of the June 16, 1976 murder of children in South Africa.
