Preparations for the production testing of Waraga-1 oil well on Lake Albert are in advanced stages with all the personnel and equipment now on site.

The joint venture that comprises Hardman Resources and Tullow Oil intends to test the three separate hydrocarbon bearing zones discovered in Waraga-1.

Testing of the three zones is expected to take around 14 days. The lower most hydrocarbon-bearing interval in the well will be perforated and the flow tested first. Operations are anticipated to commence before the end of the week.

“Testing of oil discoveries at Waraga-1 is a significant step in the evaluation of this frontier basin.

The tests will provide important information on the quality and character of the reservoir and the hydrocarbons it contains,” Simon Potter Hardman’s managing director said. “This is key information which will assist us in assessing the commercial viability of the region and establishing possible development scenarios,” he said.

This year, Hardman discovered good oil in three exploration wells.
