SINGER Titi has always amazed us with releases of scorching melodies and sexually explicit lyrics.
This time round, in her 8-track release, Kankwesasuze, Titi diverges from sexually explicit lyrics to singing about the joys of love.
The CD also features a gospel track titled Yesu Nzize (Jesus here I Come).
“Presenters at Top Radio (a Christian FM station) were surprised when I took them this song. They couldn’t believe I can also sing gospel music,†says Titi. Yesu Nzize is doing well on FM radio stations. Its video, which was released earlier than the audio, is also heavily played on WBS TV and UBC TV.
And just when every local secular artiste seems to have at least a gospel track on their albums, some critics are convinced these artistes are only doing it for money; to capture the gospel music lovers.
However, Titi disputes her detractors. In Yesu Nzize, “I sing about my life experiences. It’s all about my life’s journey from the days when I lived in the slums of Bwaise to my present life. Back then, I lived around destitutes but because of the love of Christ, I am what I am today,†explains Titi.
The other songs on Kankwesasuze are Obantamiza, which features Buchaman, Bweyinda and Tembeya.
This album will hit music stores next month on a Dick Productions label.
