Ruyange upsets top seed

DANIEL Ruyange (7) ejected top seed Godfrey Uzunga from the Rwenzori Tennis Open in a thrilling three-hour quarter-final match that went down to the wire at Kampala Club on Thursday.

Cheered by his father James Kasumba, Ruyange (left) came from a set down to level matters before taking the hard-earned decisive set 7-5 to make the semifinal.
Ruyange was due to take on fellow teenager Ronald Semanda yesterday in what was expected to be an interesting semifinal clash.
Semanda defeated Cedric Babu 6-2, 7-5 to make the semifinal while lanky Herbert Buyinza showed James Odongo the exit 6-3, 6-2.
Ronald Senyange also triumphed over John Oyet 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the semifinal. Edith Wamalwa will take on Snane Morgan in the women final at 9.00am today. The winners of last evening’s men’s semifinals will play the final.
