A garden reflects the personality of the owner. Architectural features can make a garden look wonderful. Such features can be in form of bridges, statues, trellises artificial rocks and fountains among others.

Betty Mayanja a garden designer with Plant for Africa says a garden without decorations looks so dull.

“Most people look at flowers as the only decoration for a lawn, yet there are many other things that can make it look attractive,” she says.

She says one can use the bridge as a pathway across the stream, while it can also be placed in areas that get muddy or simply as a decorative structure that one can dress up with climbing flowers and plants.

Garden sculptures are stand-alone artistic pieces that always add accents and event a theme to one’s garden. Sculptures of birds, especially water birds look wonderful around a fountain.

“Most of the garden sculptures on the market are equally suitable for both the gardens and interior décor. Most sculptures are made of bronze because the metal is long-lasting,” Mayanja says.

He says one of the appeals of the bronze garden sculpture is that it will not rust and it ages attractively. Stones are good choices for garden sculptures because they are not affected by temperature.

However, some of these decorations like fountains and bridges need to be installed by garden designing experts.
Apart from illuminating the pathways in one’s garden, lamp posts can be used as garden decoration features as well,” Moses Ssebuggwawo, Ssebaggala and Sons Ectro Centre operations manager, says.
