STATE minister for foreign affairs Okello Oryem will front Kitante as the official club for golfing delegates due for next year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

The meeting, coming to Uganda for the first time, will be held in November 2007.
Oyrem explained at the Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Corporate tournament that the club course is suited to provide recreational facilities for the Commonwealth delegates attending the meet.

“I will work on having the course as the official host for Commonwealth delegates,” Oryem said.

Oryem handed over prizes and certificates to over 40 firms including telecommunications firms MTN, uganda telecom and Celtel, Hima Cement, Stanbic Bank, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Uganda Breweries and Kampala Casino that have sponsored activities at UGC. The competition was held to recognise the firms’ gesture.

Veluppillai Kananathan, playing off handicap 18, emerged overall winner at 41 stable ford points.

In the ladies section, Nzoika Mwongeli was one of the top performers at 39 points.
