THE consortium for international management policy and development will through the Governor State University (GSU), help export Ugandan textiles and crafts to the US.
The project is funded through a grant from the State of Illinois to the university to facilitate trade linkages and technical assistance between Uganda and the US.
“We still do not have Ugandan textiles or crafts in the shops. This initiative will solve the problem,†GSU’s Mary D. Clark, said last week. during a meeting in Kampala recently.
She said her university is willing to work hand in hand with Makerere University to assist in the development of business networks between the two countries.
“We hope to bring textiles and crafts created in Uganda to sell in south Sub Urban area.
The exchange will be both economically and culturally beneficial for all the parties involved,†she added.
Clark said there is a pilot study for the selection of small group of people making textiles and crafts through a memorandum of understanding to ship their produce to America.
