DR. Sam Okuonzi, who quit the interim unit managing Uganda’s troubled Global Fund project, has landed the same job in Namibia, reports Jude Etyang.

Okuonzi has been hired to design a long-term management programme for the Global Fund project for the government of Namibia.

“I have been hired by the World Health organisation (WHO) to write a programme for Namibia Global Fund,” he said.

He is tasked with managing the project for an interim period of one year and preparing long-term institutional arrangements which would take over the project permanently.

Okuonzi was doing the same work for the Uganda project before he resigned on Tuesday, after disagreeing with Ernest and Young the caretaker firm recruited by the Finance Ministry.

He said they disagreed over a procurement plan which has led to a shortage of ARV drugs.
