ADB to invest in rural facilities

THIRTY districts are to benefit from the African Development Bank (ADB) $100m (about sh1.8b) investment in rural infrastructure. The first phase will cover 30 districts at $40m.

THIRTY districts are to benefit from the African Development Bank (ADB) $100m (about sh1.8b) investment in rural infrastructure. The first phase will cover 30 districts at $40m.
The funds to be provided through the National Community Agricultural Infrastructure improvement Programme, will be disbursed for four years starting August 2007.
“A review of Uganda’s agricultural sector carried out on funding from ADB, a number of implementation gaps were identified. They include infrastructure for access to markets, agro processing and environment and natural resources management. These are the priority areas for ADB,” a statement to chief administrative officers said.
The districts are Mpigi, Sembabule, Masaka, Rakai, Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga, Nakasangola, Kibaale, mukono, Kayunga, Kamuli, Kaliro, Pallisa, Budaka, Mbale, Sironko, Bukwa, Manafwa, Bududa, Soroti, Kapchorwa, Katakwi, Kumi, Kaberamaido, Amuria, Lira, Bukedea, Dokolo and Amolatar.
