SPORT-S men’s volleyball club have qualified for the 2007 Africa Club Championships due in Egypt following their victory at the delayed final of the National Championships at Old Kampala SSS on Monday.

The Nsambya-based national league champions secured their first ever major foreign trip after beating KCC volleyball team in three straight sets 25 -21 25 -22 and 25 -17.

Lawrence Yakan and Luke Eitit were the architects of Sport-S’ victory with an average of 10 and six points respectively against a very fatigued KCC.

Sport-S had eliminated Nkumba University while KCC edged out KAVC in the semi-finals to book their final slots.

In the schools category, Lugazi Mixed and Lubiri SSS boys and Brethren College girls will represent Uganda at the ECAVCO Schools Championships in Nairobi next year after their wins at the national championships.

Uganda Christian University, who won the national championships last year, missed their maiden regional appearance due to poor communication from Uganda Volleyball Federation.
