ABRAHAM Wogute retained his Manji open badminton title while Rita Namusisi won the women singles at Lugogo Indoor stadium on Sunday.
In the sh5m Hydery Forex Bureau event, Wogute found easy work as he dispensed of Sharing Hall’s Jimmy Okubi in straight sets (15-4, 15-6), breaking the chain that had seen the Sharing Hall players win the U-13, U-15, and U-18 male age group categories in the three-day event.
Wogute later combined with his club partner Andrew Jackson Oryada to lift the men’s double trophy, but could not defend the mixed doubles event as new rules only allowed a person to compete in a maximum of two events.
Sharing Hall’s Namusisi beat Nairobi University’s Sally Bwoma in straight sets (11-4, 11-4) to lift the women’s crown.
