THE General Court Martial has acquitted former army chief of personnel and administration Col. Mark Kodili of charges of causing a financial loss of sh30m meant for soldiers’ salaries.

The court chaired by Gen. Elly Tumwine also acquitted Kodili of charges of disobeying the Commander-in-Chief, President Yoweri Museveni, between March 2002 and October 2003, by transferring militants from one unit to another.

The Thursday session was closed to the media.

The spokesman, Col. John Mateeka, briefed the press.

Mateeka said the court cleared Kodili because the State failed to produce sufficient evidence against him. Kodili was freed before he had defended himself.

Kodili was among 17 senior army officers who were charged in January 2004 for swindling more than sh1b.
