SC Villa long-serving mid-fielder Hakim Magumba may have impressed new national coach Csaba Laszlo but his club thinks otherwise.

Villa has sacked Magumba, ending the international mid-field maestro’s eight-year stint at the Villa Park.

Magumba, a darling of the former champions in his heyday, was handed his sacking letter at Nakivubo stadium on Wednesday shortly after URA’s 2-0 championship clinching victory over KCC.

As URA players celebrated league victory Villa secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu asked Villa tactician Ibrahim Kiirya to hand Magumba the letter.

“The season has ended, we now want to build a new team so we had to dismiss players we don’t need. Several other players will be dropped depending on our needs. If you are given a task and you don’t deliver that’s what happens,” Luyimbazi commented yesterday.
Ibrahim Kongo, Tony Ojara, Moses Mohammed and Hesbond Mundia were sacked earlier.

Magumba’s letter is reportedly dated July 15, but its delivery is said to have been deliberately delayed.

Magumba, who joined Villa park from Iganga, seemed to have rediscovered his form that saw him score several goals for Villa last month earning a call up to the Uganda Cranes squad.
