Mass wedding due in Rwenzori

AT least 600 couples have registered for a mass wedding programme that has been organised to coincide with celebrations marking 22 years of South Rwenzori Diocese.

AT least 600 couples have registered for a mass wedding programme that has been organised to coincide with celebrations marking 22 years of South Rwenzori Diocese, reports John Nzinjah.

Diocesan Bishop Jackson Thembo Nzerebende said on Sunday he would preside over the ceremony.

“Wedding at least 600 couples at a mass matrimonial service is a programme of its kind since the Anglican Diocese of South Rwenzori was created 22 years ago and I wish to encourage more to register,” Nzerebende announced at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Kamaiba in Kasese.

He said the main theme of this year’s celebration centres on reminding the Christians to build families on Christian principles of love, fear of God, reconciliation and Christian child up-bringing.

The diocese was carved off Rwenzori Diocese in 1984, with retired Bishop Zebedee Masereka as founder prelate.
