IF only the personal best times decided who wins medals, Ugandan athlete Abraham Chepkirwok would be an 800m gold medal winner at the World Junior Championships that start today.

Seventeen-year-old Chepkirwok starts the 800m first round today with the best time of the 48 entrants of 1:45.0.

The Gombe SS student will be joined by Jimmy Adar, who also has a 1500m first round race earlier with Simon Ayeko
The national junior team of five runners arrived in Beijing on Sunday aiming to emulate Julius Acon (1994), Dorcus Inzikuru (2000) and Boniface Kiprop (2004) who won gold.
