Stanbic Bank has launched a charity campaign to raise sh600m to benefit children with physical disabilities, the managing director, Kitili Mbathi, has said.
Speaking during the launch at Stanbic Bank City branch yesterday, Mbathi said the sh100-a-day campaign code-named “A chance to be” was co-sponsored with The New Vision, Capital FM and Beat FM. It is to run in Stanbic branches across the country.
“I encourage the public to drop sh100 or more cash donations each day in branded boxes that are to be placed in all Stanbic Bank branches,” he said.
Citing their promotion last year about “Inspiration lives in Africa” that was run in The New Vision and on Capital radio, Mbathi said he was proud to partner with media houses because the promotions were a great success.
He said the proceeds from the campaign would support children under the care of Uganda Society for Disabled Children (USDC).
New Vision Chief executive Officer William Pike said disability was a huge problem in Uganda, but it was impressive that USDC had managed to tackle the problem over the years.
“It is encouraging to see that USDC has been able to carry on favourably over the years. The New Vision is proud to be associated with Stanbic Bank, USDC and Saatchi & Saatchi among others in fighting problems of the disabled,” he said.
